Recyling
Plants Saves Pets
Blending
a passion for gardening and the love of gardening is all it took for
Keni Cyr-Rumble to begin her Recycled Gardens. Recycled Gardens is a
fund-raising division of Pet Overpopulation Prevention-Advocates, Inc.,
hence POPPA, Inc., a nonprofit organization working to reduce the number
of homeless companion animals in Oregon. Director Cyr-Rumble states
that the plant donors have been wonderfully generous because they are
caring gardeners who want to find new homes for their unwanted plants
just as much as they want to see all the homeless animals find life-long
caregivers.
Recycled
Gardens entire plant stock is donated or grown from cuttings and
collected seed. The nursery receives donor plants from private gardens
and overstocked or imperfect merchandise from supporting local nurseries
and garden centers.
The
nursery currently offers a wide spectrum of plants including perennials
for sun and shade, small trees, andwater plants. Also for sale are a
variety of gifts and garden ornaments either second hand or made from
recycled material.
POPPA
has assisted with more than 8,000 spays and neuter surgeries. The spay/neuter
assistance fund needs donations. A donation of only $30 is enough to
pay for the neuter of one cat, $40 will pay for the spay of one cat,
and $50 will help pay for the spay or neuter of a dog or rabbit.
Recycled
Gardens is located at 6996 NW Cornelius Pass Road, Hillsboro, OR 97124
