BACK TO ISSUE SEVEN

By Susie Pontefract

Trying to find that perfect gift for that walker in your life? With Santa’s help, (did you know he was an avid walker?) we’ve compiled our very own walker’s wish list for this holiday season. The list was so long this season it could take up an entire catalog so we narrowed it down to ten. That was extremely hard because there are many items that are ideal just for us walkers!

1
Subscription to Walk About magazine

Keep your favorite walker motivated and informed all year long.
2
Warm Walking Gear

Santa keeps warm and dry by wearing synthetic fabrics while he exercises. They wick moisture away from the skin while keeping warmth in. Rain jackets, like the Marmot Minima Santa is wearing, are especially useful during the wet Northwest winter.
3
Day Pack

These small packs are a must for that day hike, school bag, and even carrying gear for baby. Most have side pockets for the water bottle and even a pocket for the CD player.
4
Augie Bag

This bag makes a great gift for your dog's personal trainer. Keep all your doggie essentials in this stylish, easy-to-carry bag. Great for packing out what your pet left behind.
5
Heart Rate Monitor

You think a marathon is hard? Try delivering over three billion gifts in one night. It's all about pacing yourself, and Santa couldn't do it without his very own heart rate monitor.
6
Speed and Distance Monitor

How many miles does Santa travel in a night? Over 259,454 according to his Garmin speed and distance monitor. He’s trying to break his PR of 11:58:17.
7
MP3 player
Add a little jingle to your walker's jangle with an MP3 player. They are lightweight, easy to wear, and will keep your walker motivated during his/her workouts.
8
Hydration Systems

With many to choose from be sure to try it on for comfort and accessibility. They provides a place for your munchies, keys, money etc.
9
Snow Shoes

Need a change in your weekend walk routine? Give these a try. No lessons needed. Just strap them on and head for the hills.
10
Fitness Walking Poles

These are a must for your hikes. They are also a must if you want to strengthen your upper body.

Blister Protection
A blister is a walker's worst enemy. Help your walker keep them away with products such as Body Glide and Blist-O-Ban.

Emergency Identification
Can't tell all your reindeer apart? Road ID is the answer. These easy to use ID tags can include both identification and emergency information to help keep your walker safe.

Walking Goodies
Walkers need fuel to keep them going, especially during longer distances. Walking snacks like Gu, Clifbars, Pria Bars, and Sharkies make great stocking stuffers.

Gift Certificates
Sometimes even Santa doesn't know what to give. A gift certificate is a great way to make anyone happy. Give a walking event entry, a membership to an exercise group or gym, or some funds to spend at a specialty walking store.
